Well it certainly was this week with temperatures of 23c, so we took full advantage and finished work at a decent time, lit the bbq and cracked open a bottle of rose on the back terrace! Sadly looks like winter is back just in time for the weekend!!
Whilst firefighting has been our main hobby this winter,we have as always managed to progress, well you can’t do nothing can you even if there aren’t enough hours in the day! So along with the planning, it is that time of year when thoughts are racing around my head, and I have so many ideas! Anyhow, we have been working on the future kitchen. The dining room wall has been rendered in Monolys which is a rough lime render. It is great as it is very forgiving of imperfections and adds character. It is the same stuff that we used in Louis’ room. We also taped and jointed the big kitchen wall. That had to be done twice. I then sanded it and painted. The dining room is Farrow and Ball’s ‘Brinjal’ (posh for aubergine!) however it isn’t quite as we couldn’t afford the paint so I mixed up a big pot of magnolia that I had with some red, black and brown artists tints and heh presto Farrow and Kershaw!! I defy anyone to notice the difference, when you see my version alongside the FB sample the colour is the same! I call the colour Carignan though, more in keeping with the Corbieres!
Next up was hiding the taping and jointing in the kitchen, so 2 undercoats and then 2 top coats and you would never have known that a few days ago it was ugly old plaster board! Most of this wall will be covered in cupboards with the wall acting as the back of the cupboard and so not seen too much. I also painted the huge wall over the stairwell and the staircase wall. So ‘TADA’ painting mission is completed, all the messy work has been done for now, we are just awaiting the funds to buy the wood for the floorboards…
Next project outside..
